Lion Rampant: gold leaf for the 10'5"

The story so far: The concave hull is an integral feature of this inspired surfboard design which started by cutting the planshape and then using a progression of individually shaped facets.

Here's the outline of the lion in semi translucent red epoxy resin. The resin is viscous and makes a thick line, this makes a resin dam, inside of which yellow resin is applied as a background to the gold leaf. The red resin is left to cure to the point where it is no longer tacky, or is only slightly  tacky, so that the gold leaf won't cover the red lines. Yellow resin is then used to fill in the shapes leaving plenty of texture ( see the video below) and once it has cured to the right stage of tackiness the gold leaf is layered on.

Rampant surfboard tail detail: red resin was used during the lamination stage so that red pin lines appear. The parallel profile gives a high volume tail which provides buoyancy and a smooth response when the board is ridden.
