Here shaping continues on the Rampant 10'5" paulownia wood surfboard, this time the secondary rail facets are added ( now that the first facet has been faired) first with a belt sander and then with a hand sanding block.
Light falling on the rail shows the facet progression. The topmost second facet is done later, after the deck is sanded and faired.

The first facet on the lower rail radius is much smaller, and a tucked edge will remain adjacent to the bottom:

Bricks are used to keep the surfboard in place on the shaping stand.

As the top of the rail curves in to the deck it produces a subtle 'S' deck and a 'boat tail' shape reminiscent of 1930's planing 'runabout' and 'commuter' power boats.

'Rampant' appears to have a reverse rocker in the last 18 inches of the tail. This is an optical illusion created by the intersection of the elliptical planshape and the concave ( which diminishes to a flat section in this area in order to keep the inlet and outlet volume of the tunnel fin withing acceptable limits. Adding lift to the tunnel fin increases the outlet volume).
