A low aspect ratio spitfire cutaway box fin
This low aspect ratio paulownia spitfire cutaway fin is 10.5 inches deep and has a fibreglass fin tab, 5mm brass rods will be inserted to strengthen the connection:

The fiberglass fin tab is epoxied to the fin, the next step is to drill 4 or 5 holes through the fin tabe from the base up into the fin and then insert 5mm brass rods, perhaps not the most elegant of methods but it should work.
